Welcome
Mothers today are bombarded with the commercialized world of parenting with western society portraying children as inconveniences that should be minimized. Few “thinkers” avoid this mindset and truly realize the blessings of parenting and the bond between mother and child.
The Thinking Mother is a site dedicated to those parents who desire to nurture a strong, secure relationship with their infants and young children and to those mothers who are searching for an alternative, grass-roots style to raise their babies.
Attachment Parenting
Much of the site follows the logic of Attachment Parenting: a style that focuses on closeness and the needs of the child. This gentle parenting practice treats children as equals, and not as an inconvenience.
This site also focuses on natural parenting, in which parents believe that there is a biologically appropriate way to care for an infant, from its conception, through pregnancy, to its entrance into this world, and all the way through childhood.
Everyone Can Learn!
All are welcome, from the mother who is questioning mainstream parenting advice to the expectant mother completely new to all things baby, to the mother who is already practicing a natural parenting style and seeks reaffirmation and support for her beliefs. We believe that women are endowed with mothering instincts and that our western culture’s method of caring for infants deadens those instincts. The Thinking Mother strives to respect the very inherent and real needs of young human beings.
